Alright, so chances are, you're not exactly a child - but 'child protection' is the term widely used to describe conscious efforts to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults from physical, sexual and emotional abuse. It is something that we at WIMPS and Public Achievement take extremely seriously! The internet can be a dangerous place, and you need to be smart about how you use it and what information you share.

All the staff and volunteers who work on WIMPS are put through what is called a POCVA (Protection Of Children and Vulnerable Adults) check to ensure that there is nothing on their record that would exclude them from working with children and young people. They are also given regular accredited training, and Public Achievement's child protection policies and procedures are regularly updated. That is just the beginning...

The personal details you put on this site are kept private and will not be shared with any other party. When you send an email through the political search, the message goes out with a WIMPS address on it - not your personal address. This allows us to track all the outgoing messages, and also the response rates, as the replies also come through the site.

In the 'Your Project' database we only share general information about your group. If you want to meet with another group, we set this up and check out that everything is legitimate. In the discussion forum, we closely monitor the content, and the site has language filters. We can also moderate discussions so that comments need to be approved
