Post subject: Gay row erupts in Newry
After an open meeting last week organised by the Rainbow Community in Newry, where MLAs and local representatives took questions from the audience on issues which the gay community were facing, a row has erupted in a following council meeting. the UKIPs representative Henry Reilly and the DUPs William Burns, Both council members who refused to attend the Rainbow Communities event, described homosexuality as "unnatural" stating "Homosexuality is a highly destructive lifestyle". What are your thoughts???? Should these comments have been made in a Public Office???

Although I dont agree with the comments you do have to think about free speech and that these politicians are elected so they are obviously expressing the opinions of the people who vote for them.

well although i dont think it was very professional for them to say, i dont think its right to take away their opinions either. although seeing as theyre supposed to be role models etc i dont think its a good idea to tell people, especially young people, that homophobia is right whenever there are extreme measures going on to stamp it out.
however, i think shiv is being a bit extreme. they were only saying it was unnatural and maybe its their beliefs, its not like they were going round saying lets shoot all the gays.
