Women Building Bridges - International Women's Day 2010

Exhibition 8th - 27th March 2010
Exhibition will be hosted by a number of cultural venues: The Eden Place Arts Centre, Derry City Council’s Tower Museum, The Women’s Centre, The Verbal Arts Centre and VOID and will run from Monday 8th March to Saturday 27th March (inclusive).
The Art Exhibition and Workshop Programme Women Building Bridges celebrating
International Women's Day 2010 showcases women's artworks from the city and
beyond, promoting community bridge building and demonstrating a willingness
and capacity to engage with 'difference' and diversity. International
Women's Day itself offering a communicative platform for women, the
Exhibition is accompanied by a discussion programme - allowing connections
between women current issues for women and women's perspectives to be
explored.
Discussion Forums include:
Below the Radar: a session for female youth and community workers and other
women working with the lesbian gay and Bisexual women in issues of
invisibility.
Women and the Sex Industry: a session for women, focusing in on the social
injustice of sex trafficking.
Community Bridge Building: an open session aimed at women who have been
active in community bridge building which asks the question - how does space
support sustainable relationships and is physical regeneration and re
imaging the easy part?
A Her-story Tour is also being piloted
Women Building Bridges theme was chosen in response to the building of a new
footbridge (Peace Bridge) which will connect the West and East Banks of the
city, and the project is funded by Derry City Council Community Relations
