LIBRARIES CLOSURES IN EAST BELFAST

There is a potential closure of up to six of the eight libraries in the East Belfast constituency, under plans recommended by Libraries NI. Libraries under threat are Ballyhackamore, Tullycarnet, Braniel, Woodstock, Ballymacarrett and Gilnahirk.

The proposed closures have led to a big concern among regular users and local residents as it would not only reduce their chance to enjoy cultures, have a place to study and do research but it may decrease opportunities for community members to socialize.

On Monday 8 February, in the Mount Conference Centre from 7.15pm-8.45pm, local residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on these planned closures.
