The winning team

Four members of the WIMPS Crew are to advise the UK's Attorney General as part of a new youth panel. Una, Shauneen, Aiobheann and Karen, all students at St Dominic's College in Belfast have just been told they got the highest score in the land after submitting a short video about the issues they feel are upmost for young people in Northern Ireland and in the UK more generally.

The film highlights the issues of 'peace walls' dividing communities, stalemates in politics, and segregation in schooling and housing as key issues facing young people in Northern Ireland. Wider issues include the growth of racist groups, ageism, the portrayal of young people in the media, knife crime and the role of the police.

The Attorney General intends to visit the girls at school as well as inviting them to London to sit on her youth panel.
