Recently the political party éirígí has placed signs around Belfast with the aim of raising awareness of their campaign against the PSNI. éirígí accuse the PSNI of continuing with ‘the same failed anti-working class and anti-republican agenda of the RUC and Royal Irish Constabulary before them.’ The slogan fronted by the signs is “RUC-PSNI SAME NAME, DIFFERENT AIM” Many of the signs remained untouched in highly viewable areas leaving many questioning the level of public support for the policing service in these areas. éirígí have also been holding protests against what they refer to as ‘repressive British legislation’ such as a 50 person strong protest at the site of Andersonstown Police Barrack on the 8th February.
