Bomb exploded under the policeman's girlfriend car

A policeman's girlfriend was injured on Friday 16th of October when a bomb exploded under her car as she left her Belfast home.

The blast in the quiet residential area of Kingsdale less than half a mile from police headquarters, happened shortly after 7.00am. It is believed the woman suffered slight redness to her arm and ringing in her ear and was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital and was later discharged. She was reversing a red MX5 sports car out of the drive of the semi-detached house at Kingsdale Park in east Belfast when there was an explosion under the front of the car.

Army bomb disposal experts are currently examining the car that was abandoned half in the drive of the house and half in the road.

The location of what is presumed to be a dissident republican attack is significant as it is far from the areas in which the dissidents have been most active. This is less than a mile from Police HQ, it's in the constituency of the DUP first minister Peter Robinson, it's one of the most unionist constituencies in Northern Ireland.
Dissident Republicans haven't been terribly active in Belfast as a whole in recent years, never mind east Belfast. This clearly looks like an upping of the ante.

What do you think of these attacks and the apparent rise in 'dissident Republicanism'? These groups appear to be recruiting heavily amongst young people.
