culture night

CAF is inviting community groups to participate in Culture Night Belfast. It will take place on Friday 25th September 2009.

Culture Night will transform Cathedral Quarter into a magical space of night time creativity involving artists' studios, historic buildings, offices, cultural organisations, community groups, churches and many more with free performances, events, tours and talks taking place indoors and outdoors. Culture Night Belfast is a major cultural event, based on the model of highly successful Culture Nights held in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Copenhagen, Reykjavik, and many other European cities.

CAF is inviting groups to apply to exhibit, perform or display projects they have been involved in as part of Culture Night. Some examples of what could be displayed include:

visual art - your group's mosaics, paintings or sculptures - these could be exhibited in the board room or in the windows; a dvd or film - this could be projected onto the window;

a drama or dance performance - this could be performed in the board room or possibly in Writer's Square just outside the CAF office.

These are just some ideas - you will have your own. There will be up to 20,000 people in Cathedral Quarter on that evening, so your work will have a huge audience. Please submit a short application (no more than two A4 pages) to hfloyd@caf.ie with an outline to include details of: the project, the proposed exhibition or performance and what your space requirements are by 24th July 2009. Please include the art work if possible e.g. a dvd or photographs of your art work. Applications will be assessed by a small panel and you will be informed within a week about the outcome of your application.

For further details please contact Heather Floyd at hfloyd@caf.ie.
