Up Against the Walls

Portadown peace wall
The Peace Channel project has been part of a wider process engaging a range of young people and youth organisations living and working in areas close to the so-called 'Peace Lines' across Belfast.  The 'Up Against the Walls' initiative has been co-ordinated by Youthlink, and came out of the work of the personal interest and motivations of consultant Tony Macaulay.

‘Up Against the Wall’ supports children and young people living in interface communities to have a voice on the future of interface barriers.
Young drummers on the peace line
On the same day as the launch of the Peace Channel, 'Up Against the Walls' held a special event on the 'peace line' at Lanark Way, west Belfast.  Young people played drums and basketball and spoke to visiting dignatories, including the Children's Commissioner, the Lord Mayor of Belfast and a number of American Congressmen.
